Castell de la Suda, also known as the King's Castle, is a monumental fortress-palace dominating the hilltop of Lleida in Catalonia. Built over a 9th-century Andalusian kasbah, the present Romanesque-Gothic complex dates from the 13th and 14th centuries when it served as a royal residence. The castle was extensively reformed during the reign of Jaume I and Peter IV of Aragon, who reinforced defensive towers and added luxurious chambers and a chapel. Covering eight hectares, this restored complex now features an interpretation center and offers panoramic views across the plains surrounding the city.
