Castell de Gaibiel is a medieval fortification perched atop a gorge in Gaibiel, Castellón province, featuring architecture refined during the Almohad period and later extended through the 14th, 16th, and 19th centuries. The castle's strategic position made it pivotal in numerous regional conflicts. The 350-square-meter enclosure evolved over time with construction of chapels, ice houses, cisterns, patios, and defensive structures including curtain walls, circular towers, and a keep. A gate on the eastern side leads to spaces where defense items were stored. Designated as a bien de interés cultural (cultural interest property), the fortress reflects centuries of continuous occupation and adaptation.
