Castell de Ferran

Castell de Ferran occupies a strategic position between Tamarit castle and Altafulla in Tarragona, evolving from an 11th-century watchtower into a sophisticated Gothic and Renaissance residence. The castle passed through ecclesiastical ownership under the Church of Tarragona during the 14th century before becoming the property of the Marquis of Tamarita in the 17th century, whose coat of arms remains preserved on the structure. The fortress showcases distinctive architectural features including a cogged side tower, an angular watch tower, and numerous Gothic-tradition windows, representing the seamless blend of medieval fortification and aristocratic domestic design. Currently a private residence, the castle maintains its romantic heritage while remaining closed to public visitation.
