Castell de Cartellà, located in Sant Gregori in the Gironès comarca, is a medieval fortress documented from 1238 and dating architecturally to the 11th-12th centuries. Originally a Romanesque structure, the castle was expanded and reformed during the 13th-14th centuries into a Gothic fortress, then adapted for firearms in the 15th century. Positioned on a triangular platform at the confluence of two streams, the fortress features a trapezoidal central body organized around an internal courtyard, with a preserved keep tower, merlons, and distinctive architectural elements. Today the castle serves as both a cultural monument of national interest and a working farmhouse, reflecting its enduring presence in the Catalan landscape.
