Burgruine Eibenstein is a medieval castle ruin perched on a steep cliff above the Thaya River in Raabs an der Thaya, Lower Austria. Originally erected in the 12th century, the fortress served as a seat for nobility including Riwin and Leopold de Iwenstein from 1192 to 1194, and later the Eibensteiner family until 1543. The ruins feature preserved sections of the northern castle wall and foundations of the chapel, though significant portions collapsed into the river during 1867. Accessible year-round without entrance fees via marked paths, the ruins offer visitors insights into medieval defensive architecture while providing dramatic views across the Thaya valley.
