Burg Rothenfels is a well-preserved medieval fortress built in the 12th century by the Freising Bishops on a dramatic red rocky outcrop overlooking Oberwölz in Austria's Wölzertal region. The castle has retained its original appearance for nearly 900 years, making it exceptionally rare among Alpine fortifications.
