Brundlund Castle, originally built by Queen Margrethe I in 1411, is a medieval fortress situated on an islet overlooking the Aabenraa fiord. Rebuilt multiple times with major restoration in 1985, the castle features distinctive fortified architecture including dungeons, a casemate cellar, and octagonal corner towers. Since 1998, it has housed Museum Sønderjylland's art museum, displaying thousands of Danish artworks from the 18th century to present, including notable oil paintings by C.W. Eckersberg.
