Ballygriffy Castle

Ballygriffy Castle is a four-storey tower house located in the Ballygriffy South townland of County Clare's Dysert Civil Parish. Originally built as the stronghold of the Uí Ghríofa chiefs of Cinel Cuallachta, the castle features a north-end entrance with small rooms below a tier, plus a second high entrance on the east wall leading to a north-eastern spiral stair. The original Irish name Baile Uí Ghríofa reflects its historical significance as a seat of Gaelic nobility, while its proximity to attractions like the Cliffs of Moher makes it a landmark in the Burren region.
