Alt-Kainach Castle stands north of Bärnbach in Styria's Voitsberg district as one of the region's most impressive Renaissance structures. Originally documented as a manorial farm in the 12th century, it evolved into a fortified complex by the 14th century before achieving its distinctive current form around 1540, featuring a high hipped roof, two powerful corner towers, and a rare arcade facade recognized as an architectural highlight. Today the castle houses the Burgenkundliche Museum, documenting Styrian castle history through models and exhibitions. Guided tours are available seasonally, and the venue accommodates civil weddings and musical events.
