Al Bithnah Fort

Al Bithnah Fort is a historic double-story fortification constructed between 1745 and 1800 from rock, coral, and mudbrick, located in the village of Al Bithnah approximately 13 kilometers from Fujairah city. Built in response to Wahhabi invasions to protect crucial trade routes in eastern Emirate territory, the fort features a distinctive conical-shaped main structure with three floors and a smaller tower on its northern side. Eight circular openings positioned at the upper sections served as defensive cannon and rifle positions, enabling guards to monitor all directions simultaneously. Nestled between mountain ranges and overlooking lush agricultural oases in Wadi Ham, the fort remains accessible by bus or car with no entrance fee, preserving its architectural heritage for visitors.
